There is no single cap style that is automatically best for UAE weather. The better choice depends on how long you wear it, how much airflow you want, the activity you are doing and the way each crown shape fits your head.
If you are choosing between a dad cap and a trucker cap, the most useful differences are ventilation, structure, weight and fit—not the label on the product.
Dad caps: softer and lower-profile
Dad caps are usually unstructured or lightly structured, with a curved brim and a softer crown. That relaxed construction can feel less bulky on the head and makes the style easy to wear with casual outfits.
Because most dad caps use fabric across the entire crown, airflow depends on the material, thickness and any ventilation eyelets. Cotton can feel soft and comfortable but may hold moisture longer once it becomes wet with sweat.

Trucker caps: more airflow at the back
Trucker caps typically combine a structured front with mesh panels across the back and sides. The mesh allows more air to move around part of the head, which can be useful when you spend time outside or simply prefer a more ventilated feel.
The trade-off is shape. A trucker crown is often taller and more structured than a dad cap, so it creates a stronger silhouette and may feel more substantial even when the mesh itself is light.

Which feels cooler?
If airflow is your main priority, a mesh-backed trucker cap has an obvious construction advantage. But comfort is not decided by airflow alone. A cap that is too tight, too deep or made from a heavy front fabric can still feel uncomfortable in the heat.
A lightweight dad cap that fits you well may feel better than a poorly fitting trucker cap. Fit always matters.
What about colour?
Very dark surfaces generally absorb more solar energy than lighter surfaces under direct sunlight. In practice, cap comfort also depends on material, ventilation, humidity, exposure time and whether you are moving or sitting still. Choose colour primarily for how you will actually wear the cap, then consider heat as one factor rather than the only factor.
What about sweat?
If you sweat heavily, think about maintenance before buying. Sweat, skin oils and sunscreen can build up around the inner band and front panels. A cap that you are comfortable cleaning regularly may serve you better than a style that looks perfect but is difficult to maintain.

Dad cap or trucker cap for Dubai and the UAE?
Choose a dad cap if you prefer a softer, more understated shape and a low-profile everyday look. Choose a trucker cap if airflow and a more structured silhouette matter more to you.
If you are uncertain, try both shapes. Your head shape and personal comfort can matter more than any general rule.
